Happy 4th of July!

I realize it's been forever since either of us has posted, and neither of us really has an excuse for that. Summer is summer, and it's either busy or you feel like being lazy. I've been traveling and Husband is finally feeling the rigours of a 8-5 job. Ooooooo!

It's hard to believe but the Official mid-point of summer is upon us - Fourth of July and all of it's patriotic awesomeness! The celebration started around here last week. When you live in a military town the splendor of this occasion takes on new meaning. This past Friday we had VIP tickets to the Air Force TATTOO. With flyovers by all of the bomber and fighter planes (even the F-22 Raptor, AWESOME!) in the AF arsenal, it was a sight to behold. The AF Band of Flight provided the soundtrack for the flyovers which proceeded a concert by this man and his band...

Yes, Charlie Daniels my friends. "Devil Went Down to Georgia," anyone? Good fun!

And in true American fashion there were spectacular fireworks! Nothing says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA!" Like loud explosive things manufactured in China.

In all it was a wonderful event. Attended by over 70,000 people, the TATTOO was a rousing night of patriotism. We saw more then 30 new AF recruits take their oath. We saluted all of the veterans and recently deployed. We witnessed the bronze star ceremony of three individuals whose acts of bravery helped save lives, bring terrorists to justice, and make life easier for those impacted in Iraq.

It seems that on TV and in the news we are constantly hearing all the bad things about our country and our troops and this war, but last Friday I was reminded again why I am proud to be an American. It is an honor to be a citizen of this country and I'm happy that through my job I get to help support the work of the AF.

So... Happy Birthday America! And, Happy Fourth of July everyone... I hope you enjoy every Red, White, and Blue minute of it.
